the problem
Kevin runs Rigged & Ready and Holden Beach Charter — a working tackle shop and a charter fleet — out of one operation. The previous setup leaned on a third-party SaaS automation tool that ate margin every month, customer texts were getting lost during half-day trips, and 5,000+ products had little to no metadata or images so search and discovery went nowhere.
what i built
- 12 self-hosted n8n workflows replacing the previous SaaS automation stack — bookings, weather, follow-ups, review asks, inventory pings
- AI-driven image enrichment pipeline that took product image coverage from near-zero to 88.5% across a 5,000+ catalog
- Custom /manage PWA built for non-technical staff — add, edit, and group products from a phone, no admin training required
- Migrated 181 fishing reports from the legacy WordPress site, plus a 'this week in R&R history' widget pulling from the archive
- Cross-system data flow so bookings, weather, customer comms, and inventory move on autopilot
“Monthly automation costs dropped, staff manage products from their phones, and Kevin can actually unplug for a weekend without the inbox lighting up. The whole stack is owned by R&R — no SaaS subscription holding the data hostage.”
